How to choose the right ingredients

I will tell you a recipe for gingerbread with a traditional composition of ingredients, but if you wish, some of them can be replaced or excluded.

Step by step cooking

  1. We combine the butter with sugar and egg, bring to a homogeneous consistency with a mixer or whisk.

  2. We rub the zest of the washed orange or lemon, add to the dough along with ginger, mix.

  3. Add honey and vanilla extract to the mixture.

  4. In a separate container, mix flour, cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and baking powder.

  5. We combine the dry mixture with the liquid, make the dough homogeneous and knead, adding flour if necessary.

  6. The dough should not stick to your hands.

  7. We wrap the dough with cling film or polyethylene and put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

  8. After the specified time, we take out the dough, unpack it, divide it in half and begin to roll out each part.

  9. Cut out the cookies of the desired shape and size.

  10. We spread the gingerbread cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and send for 7-10 minutes in a preheated to 180 ºС.
