Apple punch is a non-alcoholic recipe. Non-alcoholic apple punch

Punch is a drink made from a mixture of fruit juices with the addition of spices. Often prepared with tea or coffee.

Historically, punch cannot be non-alcoholic. The name translates as "five" because the drink originally included rum, tea, sugar, hot water and lemon juice.

Today, there are many options for cooking and serving. Including non-alcoholic ones.

General cooking rules

These days, there may be more or less than five ingredients.

The classic non-alcoholic punch contains:

  • the base itself (2/3 of the volume - water, fruit juices, fruit drinks, tea, coffee);
  • sweeteners (sugar, syrups, honey);
  • spices, herbs and pieces of fruit.

The principle of preparation is simple: add the rest of the ingredients to the base (tea, coffee, juice mixture) and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Classic options served hot, 65 degrees, in large mugs, add lemon or orange slices. For a cold punch, lime or grapefruit is appropriate.

What basis is used?

In recipes for non-alcoholic punches, sweetener and spices are added to heated juice (fruit drink, tea or compote). Cook over low heat for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Juices used:

  • citrus;
  • pomegranate juice,
  • apple and cranberry;
  • strawberry.

The set can be different, but the citrus note is used almost always.

For a tea or coffee base, black tea leaves or freshly ground Arabica beans are brewed.

What spices do they put?

Like b, punch cannot exist without a rich bouquet of spices.

  1. The most popular amenities: cinnamon sticks, cloves with inflorescences, allspice not ground, vanilla sticks.
  2. Less often they put dried mint, ground or fresh ginger, black pepper, thyme, nutmeg.

You can make your own bouquet of spices by selection and sampling.

If sweetness is preferred, you should choose cinnamon, vanilla and mint, and if spicy and tart, then cinnamon, cloves, pepper, nutmeg, etc.

Adding fruit

  1. Fruits are added ripe, better hard - pears or apples. They are cut into slices.
  2. Citrus fruits are cut into rings, half rings, using both during preparation and for decoration. Grated or chopped zest, like spices, is almost an indispensable component of punch.
  3. Berries can be added whole.

The fact that alcoholic beverages can be used not only for banal drinking has been known for a long time. On their basis, various hot cocktails are prepared, which help to warm the body and soul during the winter cold. These include mulled wine, grog and, of course, punch. The recipe for the latter has ancient Indian roots. It was from this country that punch "came" to Europe. In translation, punch means "five", that is, it must contain five ingredients. These include wine, rum, spices (cloves and cinnamon), honey or sugar, fruit juice or strong tea.

Today, the number of possible ingredients has increased markedly. Pineapples, oranges, eggs and milk were added to it. But some basic rules and recommendations on how to make punch remain unshakable. For example, red wine should be added at the very end and in small quantities. And the main condition is that the drink is consumed hot.

Maybe this drink is non-alcoholic. There are also many recipes for such a punch. The main ingredients here are fruit juices and canned or fresh fruits... don't make it too sweet or strong. And sometimes it even has to be cooled, so it becomes much tastier.

And now about how to cook classic punch. For it, you need to mix 0.5 liters of white wine, a glass of water, 0.25 liters of light rum, (two tablespoons) and grated.This mixture must be heated to a temperature of no higher than 80 degrees, while stirring constantly. Lemon zest, cloves and cinnamon are added to the tea infusion. This mixture should be infused for one hour. Then you need to strain it and add lemon juice, red wine and brandy to it. Now the punch needs to be heated. For these purposes, it cannot be used as it can oxidize the drink. Boil the punch over low heat. And in the final, powdered sugar and egg yolks are added to it.

“Sofia, I hope you have prepared
punch in best traditions our home?
Would you like some punch, Mr. Ryder?
There is nothing better than rum punch at this time of day. "
"Of course, with pleasure," Ryder replied.

"The Obstinate Bride" K. Coulter.

“Ah, Mr. Ryder, how I would like to join you and taste this wonderful rum punch,” I involuntarily thought while reading these lines. An amazing thing - writers and poets of all countries at one time dedicated so many warm words to punch as, probably, to no other drink. Here's at least Pushkin, for example, take: "And the punch is a blue flame." He, apparently, was also a true connoisseur of punch. But what can I say, the very name of this drink beckons so seductively that you immediately want to definitely try it. It seems to contain some kind of mystery, and like a promise to reveal its secrets with each new sip to everyone who tastes it. Where does this come from unusual name? How and when was this magical drink born, which until now has not lost its admirers?

It turns out that wonderful punch is an ancient Indian hot drink made from five main ingredients: rum, wine, honey (or sugar), water, tea (or fruit juice) and spices, most often cinnamon or cloves. Nowadays, such strict rules are no longer adhered to, making some changes in the preparation of punch. By the way, the name itself - punch - testifies to the number of ingredients, because in translation from Sanskrit it means "five". In Russia, this fiery drink of joy gained particular popularity in the 18th century, and in the 19th it was already well known and loved among the Russian intelligentsia. But at the same time, punch was available to the common people. Combines perfectly with heavy hearty snacks, he was simply irreplaceable during the big holidays. They drank and still drink punch not only hot, but also cold. However, in essence, it should, of course, warm.

Shouldn't we start "punching" as well, as our ancestors said in the 18th century, which meant drinking punch in a pleasant, cheerful company. But first, you need to cook it correctly. Believe me, even someone who has never done this will cook punch at home, its recipe is so simple. Punches are hot and cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It is customary to prepare hot alcoholic punch like this: first, sugar is dissolved in hot water, juice, spices are added, and only then - rum or cognac. You need to act in this sequence and not vice versa. You cannot pour hot water into cognac or rum, from this they lose their essential and aromatic substances, which will negatively affect the taste of the drink you are preparing. Cooked punch is heated to 60-70 ° C, after which it is poured into glasses or cooled if this type of punch is served cold.
If, for example, you decide to make a non-alcoholic punch, add tea instead of alcohol. The base juice must be warmed up and then added to it fruit syrup, tea or milk. It is often served hot too.

There are many recipes for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic punch. Having mastered the simpler recipes, feel free to proceed to masterly recipes. The same rum punch, which has several preparation options, is still considered a classic. The unchanged component is, of course, rum. Really unique is the champagne punch or, as it is also called, "New Year's punch". The whole uniqueness is that it is served hot, but at the same time, surprisingly, it does not lose its effervescence at all.
Try making your own punch, even if you've never made one before. After all, even the preparation of this drink is an incomparable magical sacrament. Our recipes are ready to tell you how to make your drink truly exquisite and divinely tasty.

Optionally, based on this recipe, you can also prepare an alcoholic version of the drink - adding strong alcohol instead of tea 2 minutes before the punch is ready (the British usually use whiskey, port or rum).

Place a clove in the orange peel. Cut the orange and lemon in half.

Place the orange and lemon in a saucepan. Add the juice from the baked apples. Strain and add black tea.

Add cranberry, apple, and orange juices. And also spices: nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and sugar to taste.

Bring the punch to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce heat to low and simmer the punch for another 5 minutes to mix all the aromas and flavors.

Turn off the fire and add baked apples... Place the lid on the pot and let the drink sit for a few more minutes. Then strain and serve the drink to the table.

Christmas non-alcoholic punch is ready. Happy Holidays!
