  2. The first layer is half of the potato (after the fish hits the potato, it impregnates it with its taste). I peel two potato tubers and grind it on a coarse grater. I spread it in an even layer on a plate. Salt a little on top, literally a small pinch of salt. Cover generously with a mayonnaise mesh, and then spread it over a layer of potatoes, without pressing with a spoon, so that the salad turns out to be airy.

Step 5. Peel the potatoes and grate them.

Step 6. We also peel the boiled carrots with three graters.

Step 7. Remove the husk from the onion. Cut into strips (quarters) or cubes. How do you like.

To avoid shedding tears, rinse the peeled onion and knife blade with cold water. And to remove the pungent smell and acridity, scald it with boiling water.

Step 8. Remove the skin from the beets and use three graters. We carry out the processing of this vegetable last. For the same reason, so as not to color the vegetables and not to wash the grater again.

The products are all prepared.

Step 9. We will collect the salad in a deep bowl. There was an opinion that the first layer should be fish. Here are old photos, that's exactly what I did. Now I put the potatoes in the first layer, and on it the fish. I like it that way. This does not affect the taste at all. You can do it your way.

This time, the first layer is herring, the second is onions. And grease with mayonnaise.

Step 10. Then a layer of carrot and egg. Lubricate with mayonnaise again. Do not forget to add some salt to the vegetables.

Step 11. The last in this option are potatoes and beets.
