How to choose the right pita bread

It is worth considering that of the existing two types of lavash (Armenian and Georgian), they are used in recipes for making rolls, since it is thinner. Dough for Georgian lavash lusher, it is used as a base for pizza or sandwiches. Also, the Armenian lavash has a lower calorie content. Even PP lovers will be happy - it is not necessary to cook fried lavash with fillings, you can, after all, baked. Low-calorie pita rolls can be made simply with salted cottage cheese, with cottage cheese and herbs, with cucumber, and other vegetables. If you want something sweet, you can also cook it with berries.

Recipe

  1. To begin with, finely chop the prepared washed greens (here you can include parsley, dill, a little cilantro or green onions).

    Important! If you've never tried or used cilantro before, check it out first. taste qualities in its pure form, so as not to spoil the overall impression of the cooked dish in the future.

  2. We spread the cottage cheese in a deep bowl, add the herbs. If the cottage cheese is dry, you can dilute it with three tablespoons of sour cream. We take the peeled cloves of garlic and squeeze it here with a garlic press. Add salt, mix everything thoroughly with a fork or use a blender.

  3. We spread the pita bread on the table, spread half of the prepared filling and distribute it in 1/3 of the pita bread or all over the pita bread, but step back a little from the edges so that the filling does not fall out. We twist all this into a roll, we carry out the same procedure with the second pita bread.

  4. We put the finished rolls tightly together and wrap with cling film. If cling film is not available, you can use an ordinary plastic bag. We send the resulting workpiece to the refrigerator overnight. The next day we take them out of the refrigerator, print them, cut the rolls into pieces and put them on plates.

Other cooking and filling options

Lavash can also be cooked in the oven or pan, which will turn it from cold appetizer into a hot dish.

Lavash triangles and envelopes with curd cheese

Instead of a roll, you can make triangles and envelopes from pita bread with cottage cheese and herbs in a pan or in the oven. In order to twist the triangles, you just need to cut the pita bread into 3 equal strips, then put the filling on one of the edges of the strip and start wrapping the pita bread together with the filling with a corner on the opposite side of the strip (as shown in the picture).

In a frying pan

  1. To make envelopes, I cut the pita bread into 4-6 approximately equal rectangles, laid out a little filling and wrapped all the corners of the pita bread inward.

  2. We put the pan on fire, add a little vegetable oil.

  3. The frying pan with butter heats up, and in the meantime we take 3 eggs, drive them into a deep bowl and beat with a fork or whisk.

  4. Next, we take our envelopes or triangles, quickly dip each one in a bowl with eggs and put it on a hot frying pan, fry on both sides until golden brown.

In the oven

If you don't want to stand by the frying pan, you can send the finished figurines to the oven preheated to 180 degrees and cook until golden brown.

You can wrap anything you want in it: meat, vegetables and, of course, cheese. In Armenia, the homeland of flatbread, many of its varieties are made, added to many dishes in the most interesting variations. Spices and garlic are their essential ingredients.   • Cottage cheese - 150 g;
  • Sour cream - 3 tbsp. l .;

  • Dill - 3 branches;

Grate or chop the garlic finely and add to the mixture with salt and pepper.

Rinse the dill, remove excess moisture, chop and send to a bowl with the rest of the ingredients.

We lay out the resulting strips and evenly distribute the filling over them.

Gently wrap the pita bread to make the tubes. Cut into two or more equal parts.

The appetizer is ready! You can serve it to the table. Lavash with cottage cheese and herbs will be a good addition to the main course or it is quite capable of becoming an independent dish, it is good for a snack. It is prepared quickly and easily, and most importantly, it is very tasty. But we do not recommend storing it for a long time, especially in warm weather, cottage cheese in combination with herbs can quickly deteriorate without a refrigerator.

We bring to your attention other options for filling for pita bread:

  • Mayonnaise, garlic, eggs, hard cheese, crab sticks, Dill;
  • Mayonnaise, eggs, red fish (lightly salted, any will do), fresh cucumbers, hard cheese (cut into strips and spread in strips);
  • Processed cheese, garlic, eggs, herbs;
  • Adyghe cheese, Korean carrots, mayonnaise, herbs.

In the first three fillings, the ingredients are laid out in layers. Mayonnaise comes first (third - soft cheese), then everything else in that order. The last recipe implies mixing everything up first homogeneous mass, and then spread evenly on the pita bread.

  • It is better to store ready-made rolls in the refrigerator and under cellophane, so that the pita bread does not weather.
  • When you need to put a lot of filling, it is better to fold the cake in several layers so that it does not fall apart.
  • For a crispy crust, fry the finished rolls in a hot dry skillet. Then the filling will acquire a completely different taste.

Moreover, you can prepare it for future use, and before serving it you just need to cut it and put it on a plate. Therefore, it is a pleasure to cook with him. By the way, if you remove garlic from the composition, you get an excellent breakfast or a snack for work. Very suitable for those who seek to eat right. Because such an appetizer turns out to be not only satisfying and tasty, but also healthy! Instead of sour cream, you can use natural yoghurt(Greek is better, it is thicker). So this recipe can be safely used in your daily menu.

    Moreover, it is no secret to anyone that many people lack calcium in the body, which is a building material for bones (as well as teeth and hair). Therefore, you need to eat cottage cheese as often as possible. Not many people know that it contains folic acid, which is why it is so useful for women during pregnancy. It also normalizes digestion and metabolic processes in the body. Helps normalize weight.

    This recipe will appeal to everyone who is not very fond of cottage cheese. The presence of herbs and garlic drown out the taste of the curd filling. Other ingredients can be added. It turns out tasty and beautiful with bell pepper or Korean carrot... Can add fresh cucumber, cut into small cubes or pickled mushrooms. Instead of dill and parsley, you can use celery, cilantro, green onions... It goes well with basil and fresh tomatoes, especially if you take them in different colors (yellow, red, pink). It will look very nice!

    It is better to serve such an appetizer on lettuce leaves, and decorate on top with halves of cherry tomatoes or small mushrooms. Better to make several pita breads with different colored fillings and crush them in one large platter. It looks very nice and delicious!

If pita bread is sold in your area, and there are small children in the family, then you are saved - delicious breakfasts, snacks at school and other joys of fast food are provided to you without much hassle.

All the time I think what an intelligent person came up with this bread, from it you can make a whole bunch of all sorts of goodies.

I present to you another option quick breakfast- pita bread triangles with cottage cheese and herbs.

Curd triangles can be prepared in a sweet or savory version, do as you like.

Prepare everything necessary ingredients... We sell a very large pita bread, about a meter long))).

Chop any greens and combine with cottage cheese. Season with salt and seasoning to taste.

Cut the lavash into long strips.

The most convenient way to do this is with scissors.

Cut the corner of the pita strip, as shown in the photo. Lay on one edge curd filling... Fold the corner of the pita bread up.

Then wrap the triangle with the filling down. We need all the edges to be closed and the filling does not flow during frying. There is one more side open.

Fold the triangle over to the open side. Cut off the remnants of the pita bread. The result is a triangular blank closed on all sides. Crunchy chips can be made from pita bread scraps by frying them in a pan without oil or baking them in the oven and sprinkling with cheese.

In this way, prepare all the triangles until the filling is finished. Then there are two ways - breaded the triangles in the egg and fry in oil or fry without breading in a dry frying pan. I prefer the second option.

I'll show you how it works out in both cases. Dip the triangles into the beaten egg.

Fry pita bread triangles with cottage cheese and herbs in vegetable oil.

It will turn out soft, tasty, but fatty for me.

And if you fry in a dry frying pan without oil, then it comes out like this. At first, the triangles become crispy when fried, and then, due to the moist filling, they become very tender and soft. How thinner pita, the tastier the result. They just melt in your mouth. And your children will like the sweet version more.

Delicious with sweet tea or coffee. Enjoy!
