The pie got its name not from the word "chicken", but from the name of the Cossack dwelling - "kurenya", because the loaf has an external resemblance to the hut. At its top, a hole is made through which, when the product is removed from the oven, steam comes out like smoke.

For the main test, take a chicken egg, sour cream (50 g), half a pack of butter, a pinch of salt and a small spoonful of baking soda. Combine and knead all the ingredients, forming homogeneous mass... Add flour and make dough. Its ideal consistency is soft and elastic. Let's cover the base and leave it to "breathe" for a while.

Let's put together the pie:

  1. Roll out the third part of the dough into a half-centimeter thick layer, with which we will line the bottom of a round shape.
  2. Alternately, we will lay out vegetable and meat fillings on the base, laying each layer with pancakes.
  3. Roll out the remaining dough into a slightly thicker layer, cover the cake with it and make a hole one and a half centimeters in diameter at the top with the tip of a knife.
  4. Decorate the cake with carved pieces of dough, coat with an egg and send it to the oven already warming up to bake at 180 ° C. This process will take up to 45 minutes.
